Aiming for 16 hours this week with Monday (now lapsed) being my rest day.
So after not rising this morning at 6am for my swim, it's off to the gym later for a power hour before home and onto the Turbo Trainer whilst watching the match (Chelsea Vs Manchester United, she's a big one - I'm a Chelsea Fan).
Now I've a massage booked in for 6pm also so it will be a busy evening ahead. The massage is booked primarily to iron out a tweak in my calf muscle sustained from running. I haven't done enough running in the last week due to cutting my heel and trying to keep the wound from re-opening etc until healed. Then I ran on Friday and I was still compensating for this, resulting in more forefoot running on my right leg. Disaster, resulted in slight calf strain at the end of the run. Now I've experienced this problem before, and my calf muscles do not like forefoot running so it's a case of lesson definitely learned now.
Fortunately it's only a slight strain and feels fine to run on now, and my heel cut is almost clear so I'll be good for the rest of this week and next week before the race.
I'm happy with how my training has gone recently and I've seen some solid time improvements in all disciplines. So this week is about trying to make some more improvements before slightly easing off a bit before the race next Saturday. Next week will be somewhat of a recovery week to ensure I'm completely fresh and ready. I have some training planned in the heat to help acclimatise, but nothing too strenuous.
After tonight, it's up early every day for swim sessions and evenings see a combo of Bike, Brick and Run sessions. Long run on Saturday and long Bike on Sunday then to complete the week and 15 hours of training.
Here's hoping Fernando Torres opens his Chelsea Goal Scoring account tonight and more importantly Chelsea take the win. I'll be shouting from my bike waving sweat around if that's the case!
Next blog will hopefully contain photo's and reports on my anxiously awaiting goodies from Swimovate and Wiggle.
I'm hoping to test the PoolMate Pro towards the end of this week along with some new goggles as mine are fogging up occasionally (still playing with tightness of straps but resulting in nice eye socket surrounds afterwards!)
Happy Training.
