As per previous comments, I've been going through a bit of a rut in performance lately. I've analysed this a lot and some adjustments have been made ahead of Lost Sheep, with a view that it may take another couple weeks to see possible more benefits if it's working.
So I entered Blacksod Olympic a couple weeks ago - 2 main reasons 1 of which being I don't feel I've done enough races this season (4 x 70.3's, 1 x olympic). 5 just isn't enough triathlons to fuel the passion over the winter training so safe to say next season will probably see me push that up a bit more hopefully once I've decided exact plan.
I've missed not doing the National Series, missed the regular racing and pain of sprint and olympic more so. I have enjoyed the 70.3 focus however and learn something new every race so will likely continue on same path just with some extra sprints/olympics thrown in for training/enjoyment/pain sessions!
The 2nd reason being to allow a couple of extra weeks to see if my form/power comes back and end with a good olympic hurt session.
I'm going in to Blacksod with a couple of mind frames - I want to swim with a technique element as I know what I need to do but this will be hard in race adrenalin mode. Basically my technique is a rushed one of just pulling arms back instead of catching the water so an ongoing area for improvement.
I will bike as hard as I physically can on the day - ironically I've more confidence in my run and have noticed improvements lately as well as a good run at Lost Sheep so will hopefully have enough off the bike to hurt through 10k on a hard course I hear.
After Blacksod I will have a couple weeks of pizza, ice cream and chips before starting a steady easy prep few weeks leading into base.
I'll plan my 2014 season properly in off season hopefully - at least in terms of race distance and general focus as the Irish calendar is unlikely to be published before mid/late November.
Roll on Blacksod for one last solid effort.
