Under advise from Barry @ Worldwide Cycles, I went with a set of Spinergy Stealth PBO's being both aero and strong enough for our Irish road conditions. Barry uses these as his daily wheel and sings their praises so that's enough for me. The aero helmet was a birthday gift and is a Spiuk one. See below picture of bike on new aero wheels.
Whilst waiting I went to the local pool and got in a decent swim session. I'm working on a better catch and leg position after a recent Swim Analysis at Base2Race (more about these guys soon) which I'm very happy with and my technique felt good. Etimated 3k session in about 1hr 20mins with drills etc. Lost count of laps after 30+ hence one of my orders this morning...
Also went for a 10k run - first run in a few days after nicking my heel on a steel grate recently and the cut being right by the movement and slightly annoying. It actually led to me trying to compensate keeping it still and resulted in me running on front of foot more = slightly sore calf this morning... Cut nearly healed thankfully so shouldn't affect me again.
So up this morning to start massaging my calf and put in a couple of orders..
I ordered the Swimovate PoolMate Pro which is basically a lap counter for indoor swim sessions. I went for the Pro at a €60 premium due to the benefit of downloading workouts and properly tracking my progress.
Next up was an order to Wiggle for 2 pairs of goggles (mine are fogging up a bit), 1 pair of swim shorts and a t-shirt to get me above the £50 order for a 15% discount voucher I had to work..
I should get delivery of both orders this week hopefully.
Training - ok so I'm off to the gym shortly for a Weights Session followed by a Swim Session. Might be going for a mountain walk later with wifey if the weather stays nice. 3 Hour Bike session planned for tomorrow morning that I may follow up with a short run off the bike if the calf is fully sorted.
Enjoy the weekend, happy training.
