I ran my furthest distance of 21.1km (half marathon) late last week in 1hr 41. I started this as my long slow run at near 5min km's and upped it in the last 4k. Very happy with it being my furthest distance and in a respectable time considering it was my first.. I'm starting to set improvement targets now having looked at my race calendar and seen how training has gone. I'll put my Goals up in another section and track them throughout the season to keep focus and targets in mind.
I've kept up my swimming and running, and increasing my biking this week and starting some brick sessions to make sure I don't suffer the jelly leg syndrome.
I felt a slight tweak at back of knee and got a sports massage this evening from Base 2 Race and will be popping in again tomorrow morning to buy my new Wetsuit - Either a TYR C3 or C5... see if I notice the difference in these and decide then - fortunately they have a try before you buy in their wetronome in store. Very useful I have to say.
So, Valentia is a Sprint based in Kerry, I need to do a few open water swim sessions in the next 2 weeks in preparation, and work on my speed over the short distance so I know what my race pace should be.
I've also entered a few more races this week and my calendar is more or less decided for the season now.
It's on another section of this site and I'll add in the full list now.
Now I'm off to sleep for an early start and lots of training over the bank holiday weekend.
Happy training people.
