The Bahrain F1 Race has been cancelled/postponed... So that's my Saturday evening flight after the race cancelled then and an extra night in Abu Dhabi so.. Shame to miss the first F1 race of the season as it was a nice bonus to the week but what can you do! Bahrain's interests are best placed resolving their Political issues right now and the F1 circus might create a distraction or prove a showcase for further uprising behaviour so I understand that and am not crying too much inside... I'll get to an F1 race later in the season hopefully to make up for it..
So back to Abu Dhabi, and what will be just my 5th Triathlon after taking like a duck to water to this sport since August'10 and becoming firmly addicted to everything tri-related. With my first 4 Triathlons being Sprint Distance (750m Swim, 20k Bike and 5k Run), I'm somewhat jumping into the deep end with this one and going for the 1.5k Swim, 100k Bike and 10k Run. And that's just the short distance! There are a lot of Pro's and AGer's doing the long distance which is twice that so I should finish before them anyway!
Training has been going good, always room for improvement but times have been improving along with endurance so I should get through this one alright and that'll be a great experience and lead me into my training for the rest of the Irish Triathlon Circuit and races planned this year.
The heat being the main unknown of course so I'll need to keep my hydration and nutrition well monitored that's for sure.
Did I mention the 100k Bike also includes a lap of the F1 Circuit at Yas Marina?? No, well now you can see the added attraction for an F1 fan like me and if any of you have seen the F1 Race in Abu Dhabi you'll agree it looks rather s
I'm off work tomorrow to get my bike serviced by my cousin at Worldwide Cycles, pick up a nice set of Aero Wheels and Aero Helmet (birthday present courtesy of wifey) and of course vote in the Irish General Election 2011 to see if I can assist in assigning a new and improved Government to tax us out of our problems!
I'll have a decent bit of training time during the day and have a long easy run planned followed by a swim set in the local pool so it should be a productive day off.
So that brings to a close my first blog post... Having finally put the time into finding my way around this whole website lark I promise to keep this regularly updated and even add pictures in future posts too!
Signing out for now...
