I reduced training commitment due to professional exam priorities and these took up the last 18 months. Of course I carried on training but to a lesser priority due to time restraints and had a few enjoyable races in between to keep me honest.
Main result would be Challenge Roth 2016.
This is everything you've heard it is and for anyone out there if you get a chance just race it.
I managed to return a pretty decent 9:19 for my efforts and I was happy with this considering all aspects.
Again I cramped on the marathon around the 20km mark and this is a key area to address going forward for me. likely not enough salt tablets/solution, possibly not enough leg strength/fitness also so both will be addressed as I aim higher next time!
I'm back to being self-coached and this suits my overall approach and plan. I'm dedicated enough to work hard, get the sessions done and enjoy the pain and pleasure from training hard and a lot where necessary.
2016 was enjoyable and had a decent race, but on to 2017 where I plan on being more competitive and faster than ever.
