2013 Race Calendar
Update - I've added the European 70.3 Champs in Wiesbaden in August.
This is 4 weeks after Humbert 70.3 and 4 weeks before Vegas so fits in nicely.
It also sounds like a great course and obviously a very competitive field ahead of Vegas so will be a nice tester.
National Series Requirements of 5 races and 2 being sprints does not really tally with my middle/long term focus as an athlete on what I think my strengths are/will be and where I want to go.
On this basis, I'm very unlikely to complete the required 5 NS races for 2013 as my focus will be in performing well at the National Championship Races and a few others. Also I prefer the Olympic and 70.3 distance as my long-term triathlon goals are in 70.3 and eventually ironman distance.
So current races planned, with a couple more to possibly be added depending on how things go.
Thus far it's 1 x Run race, 2 x Duathlons, 1 x Olympic and 4 x 70.3's in the calendar.
January 27th Dungarvan 10 Mile Run 51st - 59:14
February 24th Naas Duathlon Sprint 3.2k-19k-3.4k 3rd - 55:07
April 6th Ashford Duathlon - Nat. Champs 10k-40k-5k 10th - 1:57:12
May 18th Tri an Mhi Middle Dist - National 70.3 Champs 3rd - 4:14:27 (shortened swim)
June 29th Hell of the West Olympic, Kilkee - NS 9th - 2:14:21
July 14th Humbert Challenge - Half Ironman, Mayo 1st - 4:24:31
Aug 11th Wiesbaden Euro 70.3 Champs 23rd AG, 126th OA - 4:39:46
Sept 8th Lost Sheep Half Ironman, Kenmare, Ireland 5th - 4:19:26
Sept 21st Blacksod Olympic, Mayo, Ireland 5th - 2:11:36

2012 Race Calendar
So here's my updated 2012 Race Calendar Plans...
So just the 5 National Series races and finish up with Galway 70.3 then.
Couple additional races in mind should another NS race be required, but main ones below.
Edit - Groomsport Half Ireman added to make my 6th NS race and also 4th National Championships of the season after the Sprint, Olympic and Aquathon.
Quality over Quantity being the main goal really. Decent breaks for most races - certainly compared to last year where 3 in a row were commonplace!
January 29th Hell and Back 10k Adventure Run 11th - 56:01
March 25th Wicklow 10k Run 6th - 37:05
April 15 Sportsman Duathlon, Dundalk 4th - 51:19
April 29th Joey Hannan - NS - Olympic 9th - 2:08:50
May 12th Valentia - NS Champs - Sprint 11th - 1:02:06
June 2nd Tri-Athy - NS - Olympic 13th - 2:06:04

August 19th Groomsport Half Ironman - NS - National Champs 4th - 4:33:00

So that's my ambitious plan.
The main areas of importance are the 3 consecutive tri's in 3 week from 18th June, and the half marathon and full marathon to finish the season.
It will all depend on injuries being avoided and training going to plan, but that's what all the preparation has been for so roll on race season...
It's my first full year of tri's and I'm gonna go for it anyway!
